Whitening
What is whitening?
The procedure used for making teeth whiter, using dental whitening
agents and/or other tooth cleaning measures.
Whom does whitening benefit?
Whitening benefits anyone with unwanted stains caused by food
and beverages, tobacco, and normal aging. Virtually all adults
believe a smile is an important social asset. The number one requested
smile improvement is for whiter and brighter teeth. Many people
want whiter teeth because they feel that it will make them look
more attractive.
How is it done?
There are three common options:
Option 1: Crest Whitestrips
Supreme
Crest makes a variety of Whitestrips in
different strengths. We sell Whitestrips
Supreme because they are more effective
than the regular Crest Whitestrips sold
in retail stores. These are only available
through a dentist office. Not everyone
is a good candidate for Crest Whitestrips,
so you should have a thorough dental examination
to determine what type of whitening make
sense for you.
Option 2: Custom Made
Whitening Trays
Custom made whitening trays are specially made for each persons
individual mouth by making molds of your teeth. The molds are
used to fabricate plaster models of your teeth. These models are
used to fabricate the whitening trays so that they fit your teeth
just right. You are provided with a special dental grade whitening
gel to take home that will remove stains and create a whiter,
brighter smile. This is our preferred technique for whitening
teeth.
Option 3: In-Office
Bleaching
We have not yet found an in-office system
that we are enthusiastic about using.
Because many in-office systems recommend
custom made whitening trays for maximum
effectiveness, the trays alone are our
preferred method of whitening. This is
a rapidly changing area of cosmetic dentistry,
and the possibility exists that we may
offer in-office whitening as technologies
progress.
