Sealants
What are sealants?
Sealants are plastic coatings that bond
to the chewing surfaces of teeth to seal
the grooves and prevent decay.
Whom do they benefit?
Sealants are most beneficial to children,
especially if they are placed soon after
new teeth have become fully visible. Adults
with deep grooves in their teeth can also
benefit from sealants.
How are they placed?
The chewing surface of the tooth is cleaned
and conditioned. Then the sealant is painted
on and dried with a special light.
